Oil on Water Detection and Monitoring Systems
For contamination detection, measurement and control
systems.
The Leakwise floating sensors measure the difference in
absorption rates of high
frequency electromagnetic energy between
hydrocarbons
(and other organic solvents) and water.
Unlike
optical and traditional electric conductivity and capacitance detection,
this
technology enables reliable detection regardless of level changes,
waves,
process upsets, oil & dirt coating, changes in water
temperature, salinity, etc.
The Leakwise detection systems are unique
in their capability to detect the
presence of very small layers of
contaminating hydrocarbons starting from 0.3
mm, and to continuously
monitor the growing thickness of these layers.

The LEAKWISEŽ ID-221 is installed in sumps
and in
groundwater monitoring wells to detect
floating oil sheens resulting
from leaking
underground storage tanks and pipe-lines. It is
also
used to monitor hydrocarbons and other
organic solvents during site
assessment and
remediation.
ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS are in
detecting
and monitoring floating hydrocarbons in: sewer
systems,
waste water treatment systems,
oil/water separators, cooling water
trenches and canals, storm water run-offs,
retention ponds and sumps,
boiler condensate tanks etc.

The LEAKWISEŽ ID-223 can be installed in dry
sumps to
detect oil leakage or spillage from:
above-ground oil storage tanks in
tank farms,
to detect oil leaks from transformers in sumps
at power
distribution substations, etc. It can
also be used to monitor waste
water discharge
after treatment.
ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS
are in
detecting and monitoring floating
hydrocarbons in: sewer
systems, oil/water separators, cooling water trenches
and canals, storm
water run-offs,
retention ponds, boiler condensate
tanks,
groundwater remediation system etc.

APPLICATION 1: REMEDIATION CONTROL
Inserting the
ID-225 in groundwater monitoring wells enables one to:
Plot changes in
oil thickness over time to enable more effective choice of
oil skimming
wells.
Monitor effectiveness of remediation
techniques
Implement automatic on/off control of the remediation
techniques.
APPLICATION 2: SKIM TANKS
In many processes, a
skim tank is used to collect
entrained oil in waste water. The ID-225
is inserted into a tank through
one of the inspection hatches,
enabling one to:
Automatically start and stop the top skimming
operation.
APPLICATION 3: MONITORING
011/WATER
SEPARATORS
Environmental regulations require oil/water
separators to be covered. An
ID-225 can monitor the thickness of the
oil layer build-up in the separator.
APPLICATIONS:
The AGAR ID-227 is designed to be
installed off-shore near oil tanker buoy
terminals, jetties, piers in
order to detect floating oil sheens resulting from
spills or leaks
which may occur during the loading/discharge
process.
ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS are in detecting and
monitoring floating
hydrocarbons near off-shore oil rigs and in:
lagoons, lakes, rivers, open
channels, large retention ponds etc.
DSP-220 APPLICATIONS
The
DSP-220 is a computerized monitoring and data acquisition system,
especially
designed to support multiple LEAKWISEŽ and other specialized
sensors. The system can
be tailored to a particular application
by using a combination of units and their options.
The basic unit
(BDSP-220) includes a microcontroller, data acquisition hardware for
8
sensors, a panel with status lights, a keypad and display, and a
serial communication
channel. Operator interaction is carried out via
the keypad and display through a series
of simple, user friendly menus.
Status of all sensors, or of a selected sensor,
is seen on the
display in measurement mode.
Configuration and calibration modes are
used for system setup and
optimization, and are accessed only by an
authorized operator.
OUTPUTS OF THE SYSTEM
INCLUDE:
Communication channel for periodic status data
flow.
Optional data logging is used when a connection to the
communication
channel cannot be used as a permanent
installation.
Optional modem interface, including automatic
dial-up, for long distance alarm.
Optional relays, each one can
be assigned to a specified sensor, and will
activate when an assigned
set point is exceeded.
This feature can be used for control
purposes.
Optional 4-2OmA output channels, each one can be
assigned to a
specified sensor and give a continuous output related to
the
measurement of that sensor.
